Best Women Mma Knockouts - Brutal Kicks and Punches - Fearsome Battles - Awesome Moves

The main event of the biggest card in UFC history was for the women’s bantamweight championship between Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes, not bad considering the division has only existed for 3 years.

Women’s MMA is just as popular as men’s MMA, and is arguably producing just as many stars, if not more. Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Cyborg are all household names in MMA now, and creating some of the most exciting rivalries and bouts that the sport has seen.

In recognition of the success of women’s mixed martial arts these last few years, this list celebrates the top six KO’s in women’s MMA.

6. Joanna Jedrzejczyk KO’s Jessica Penne

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is a savage and violent woman who can do bad things to people. Honestly there is nobody more fun to watch fight than Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Her MMA record is 12-0 and her total combat sports record is 39-2, there is no way Penne stood a chance here.

Penne made it to the semi-finals of the Ultimate Fighter 20, but lost to eventual winner Carla Esparza. After beating Markos she challenged Joanna for the title at UFC Fight Night in June of 2015, but she almost got her face punched clean off her head before the ref finally stepped in.

5. Cyborg KOs Leslie Smith

Cyborg finally made her UFC debut at UFC 198, and promptly almost ripped Leslie Smith’s ear clean off from her head.

This bout was over before it even started, as Cyborg is just on another level from anyone else in there. The only shocking part was that all of Cyborg’s drug tests came back clean.

4. Ronda Rousey KOs Bethe Correia

There is a vicious and unconfirmed rumour regarding the impacts that this knockout had on Bethe Correia. Since the rumour cannot be confirmed it would be irresponsible to repeat, but also less fun: Bethe may have shit her fight shorts after Ronda knocked her out. Photos that surfaced after this fight seemed to show a darkened stain at the back of Bethe’s white Reebok fight shorts.

To walk into Brazil, get cheered by Brazilian fans while facing a Brazilian, knock her opponent out and then make her shit her pants? That’s why Ronda Rousey is a rock star.

3. Joanna Jedrzejczyk KOs Carla Esparza

Joanna Jedrzejczyk didn’t take part in the season of the Ultimate Fighter that would decide who would be the first UFC strawweight champion. Like a ninja she waited in the shadows to take the title from the season’s winner.

Carla looked absolutely inferior to Joanna in this fight. Her takedown attempts were easily thwarted and usually countered with multiple punches to the face. Joanna beat her up so badly that it really exposed the fact that the tournament on the Ultimate Fighter didn’t really mean a thing because no one who took part was on Joanna’s level.

2. Cyborg knocks out Carano

The first time a bout between two women headlined a major MMA event, was when Cyborg and Gina Carano main evented Strikeforce: Cyborg vs. Carano on August 15th 2009.

Carano was all set to become the first big name in mixed martial arts. She was attractive with an impressive kickboxing record, and up until this fight she was undefeated with a 7-0 MMA record. Then she met Cyborg and everything changed.

The fight wasn’t even close. It looked like a giant gargoyle was beating up a small hobbit. Carano decided making B movies in Hollywood was a better career choice afterwards. She hasn’t fought since.

1. Holly Holm Breaks Rousey’s Jaw

Only Matt Serra’s KO of GSP is possibly as big of an upset as this fight. Holly Holm and Greg Jackson came into this fight with the perfect game plan and walked away with the title, Rousey came into this fight with the exact same gameplan she’s always had, and walked away with a broken jaw.

Rousey just tried to do what she always does and charge right through her opponents, but Holm was ready for that. It was as vicious of a beating as you will ever see in MMA; a knockout so bad that the once dominant Ronda Rousey has talked retirement, suicide, and having Travis Browne’s babies since, but nothing about wanting to take on Holm again.
